Here is an article and pics to go with it. Enjoy.

This tiny deer was delivered by Caesarean section at a wildlife hospital after a car killed his mother. Little Rupert,
who is so small he can fit into an adult's hand, was born after vets failed in their battle to save his mother.

At just six inches tall and weighing just over a pound, he is now in an incubator in the intensive care unit at
Tiggywinkles Wildlife Hospital in Buckinghamshire. He has only recently opened his eyes.

Les Stocker, founder of Tiggywinkles, said, "Rupert's mother had very severe injuries. We brought him out and got
him breathing, and then he went into an incubator on oxygin. he is now being fed by a tube."

Staff members are being optimistic that Rupert, now five days old, will make a full recovery. "Deer are very,very
tricky, but this one has spirit. He is an extremely feisty little guy and quite pushy." Mt. Stocker said

P. S.

Monday, Dec. 14. I was just informed that these same pics were making the rounds two years ago. I have no further
info on them.

Travelling Through the Dark

Traveling through the dark I found a deer
dead on the edge of the Wilson River road.
It is usually best to roll them into the canyon:
that road is narrow; to swerve might make more dead.

By glow of the tail-light I stumbled back of the car
and stood by the heap, a doe, a recent killing;
she had stiffened already, almost cold.
I dragged her off; she was large in the belly.

My fingers touching her side brought me the reason--
her side was warm; her fawn lay there waiting,
alive, still, never to be born.
Beside that mountain road I hesitated.

The car aimed ahead its lowered parking lights;
under the hood purred the steady engine.
I stood in the glare of the warm exhaust turning red;
around our group I could hear the wilderness listen.

I thought hard for us all--my only swerving--,
then pushed her over the edge into the river.

Dam that looks good. I'm eating mush tonight. :-\

I do have a venison shoulder in the crock pot though. Going to cook all nite and add the taters and carrots tomorrow morning. :thumbsup:
