This iron knife and grape shot found together in Michigan is about as unusual as they come I guess.

The knife has been cleaned and needs to be checked by an expert but it is believed to be a French Trader knife dated maybe from 1650 to 1850.

The French trappers traded these to the Indians for beaver pelts.

I now live a short distance from what was once one of their key trading posts.

    Thanks and I prefer a red porsche...LOL!

That is certainly an "unusual" find if there ever was one.

You always have very interesting finds and I enjoy reading your threads.

Thought that this might qualify. Found it last year just before they tore down a local grade school here. At one time, was my avatar. Found it one piece at a time in a 5' square area right next to an asphault parking area about 4 inches down.

    This one's really unusual.

    Dug this bottlecap right,
    another freaking bottlecap,
    but wait,
turned it around and it's actually a piece of jewelry.
    A "Bottlecap pin". A "Buck-A-Roo" bottlecap pin.
I have no idea what it is for but I think it was was my only "Keeper" bottlecap ever.

Dug this Indianhead coin but it's not an Indianhead penny. It's a token made on the front to appear almost like an Indianhead. It's the same size and seems to be copper or copper/bronze but the edge is reeded.
It's dated 1863 on front and on the back it has "Detroit City Flour Mills - COR. LARNED & 2' STS."

    Kind of unusual...

Re: Contest.................."PIC OF YOUR MOST UNUSUAL FIND"

Sorry, but I don't have a pic To go along with this story, but thought that I would share with the members as it is a most unusual find at least to me.

Back in late 1980's early 1990's I was out with a friend and hunting partner looking for shed antlers that male deer lose in late winter. We were on a family members property and following a creek through a overgrown swamp. My friend was on the opposite side of the creek and ahead of me just a bit, when he tells me that their is a dead deer carcass ahead of me on my side and to check it out. As I get it in my view it looked like a old bottle dump as it was very glassy looking and greenish in appearance. Mind you I have not even gotten close to it yet so I have know idea what lays ahead. I finally get up to it and he asks me if it was a buck or a doe. Well it was neither as it was human skeletal remains. He about freaked and started saying that I was BS'ing him and when I told him to get over here right now, I swear that he never even touched the water coming across the creek.
Long story short, the remains belonged to a person who was involved in a traffic accident and he decided to walk home across the swamp. Obviously he did not make it and died from exposure.
Talk about weird finds. I do have the news article somewhere, but finding it would be a chore.
    Just thought I would share.

It all depends on the age of the find. If it's still got signs of meat on it it's gross. If it's mummyfied and found in a tomb then it's cool.
