This post is in honor of someone who believes my posts do not contain anything about metal detecting, or treasure hunting in general. So contrary to the fact, this is a post where you can all share your vast knowledge of this hobby and perhaps help others along the way.

My tip.
When you are in the field and are wearing your headphones, make sure you turn your unit on before looking for any goodies.

Tip - Make sure you bring your metal detector with you.

Hey Spart, I just got a great idea, you should write a book on metal detecting! :laughing9:

do not wear steel toed boots while metal detecting .... make sure you actually turn your machine on before trying to detect ... make sure the place your detecting is legal to hunt at and if its private land --get the owners ok first... remember this to make good finds *, good loses must have occured there first ( note it not always about whats there now *) but rather what was there or occured there in the past ( thus good historical research of a area can often lead to good finds)

I've done that a few times. And that is exactly why I don't think Bikinis should be allowed on the beach! :laughing7:

If you use a Sunray probe, make sure it's in the off position. I can't tell you many times I stood there swinging wondering why my target kept disappearing or moving :tongue3:

If you don't like people watching you detect, go to parks & schools when they're playing/watching kids ball games. HH, George (MN)

If you have rings on your fingers, take them off before you go detecting.

If your detector weighs more than 3 lbs, you will get tired of swinging it after about an hour or two.

Girls at the beach do not find you sexy. Ever.

Never, never put a metal replacement coil bolt near your machine, or you might just get some hard to find targets.
