1977 was a horrible year for music! Do you agree? Or not.

I won't have nothing bad said about ABBA!!! >:(

Lol, there was some great music and some truly terrible music, but it all contributes to a great decade..in my opinion. :headbang:

I know there was other music besides disco that year, but it seems the good stuff became obscured somehow and almost "took a back seat" to disco. :icon_scratch:

The garbage that is released today is far worse than anything from 1977.

I am wondering in 30 years, who will be this generations Bob Dylan? Beatles? Stones? Hendrix?

Justin Bieber and T-Pain just don't seem to have that kind of staying power IMO.

Sorry my friend Hombre, David Soul cannot even be mentioned in the same breath as some of today's Contempory Rock bands like, Velvet Revolver, Black Crowes, 3 Doors Down or Black Label just to name a few.

The difference is today, if you don't like the genre of music that's playing on one station, you have many other options. Whereas 34 years ago you pretty much only had two choices, pop or counrty.

It doesn't matter which decade or year you pick, there will always be good, bad and great. Some bands, artistes will stand the test of time or not. I remember back in 1981 a really cr4p record keeping a really great record from getting to No.1. Here they are, No.1 is the cr4p one and No.2 is the classic it kept from reaching No1 :BangHead:

I hated disco!!! I mean come on, "At the Car wash?" Gimme a break. The charts were loaded with singers like Shaun Cassidy, Andy Gibb, Debby Boone, David Soul, Barry Manilow, Barbara Streisand, Leo Sayer and..........ABBA :BangHead: :violent1:

In 1977 I was in Germany listening to American Armed Forces Radio. Most of us G.I.'s hated disco. But you must admit there was quite a bit of good music too. Other great bands that had awesome hits that year were: Kansas, Steely Dan, Thin Lizzy, Foreigner, Peter Framton, Steve Miller Band, Ted Nugent, The Doobie Brothers, and several others. So not all was lost. :occasion14:

No matter what Tony manero and the Bee Gees would have you believe...dancing was NOT good in the 70's! :laughing9:

....and especially for Thrilla -

And without Gary the pedo American Hockey games just wouldn't be the same!

Just realised you're talking 1977...and i've drifted off into all of the 70's. Sorry lol.

The 70's were (to me anyhow) the defining decade of music of all forms. We had the big 60's bands and singers still at their peak in the early 70's. The "Glamrock" era kicked in (like it or not). Disco erupted (like it or not), and it ended with the "punk" era (like it or not).
Me and Olivia Newton John fell head over heels in love, though she finds it hard to recall but she's old now, poor thing! So yeah...the 70's was a fabulous decade for music! :headbang:
