doomsday is here particles will be moving at 4 million mph today

WASHINGTON (AP) — The largest solar storm in five years was due to arrive on Earth early Thursday, promising to shake the globe's magnetic field while expanding the Northern Lights.

The storm started with a massive solar flare earlier in the week and grew as it raced outward from the sun, expanding like a giant soap bubble, scientists said. When it strikes, the particles will be moving at 4 million mph. ;D

Oh ya. But doomsday means different things to different people.

For some it's eternal and literal...hell, for others it's some great world war that will lead to the total extinction of mankind...and then for others it's being called in for an IRS audit. It all depends on a person's philosophy of life.

If one believes the bible, then one believes doomsday will not happen for at least 1007 years (7 years of Great Tribulation & 1000 Years of the Millennial Kingdom). Then this earth will be burned up, a new earth created, the lost placed into the Lake of Fire (sort of an imploded star or black hole where human souls conscientiously suffer forever), and the saved into everlasting joy (the future lords of heaven which is the endless area beyond what we call outer space). According to the bible, most people who ever lived on earth will end up in the Lake of Fire. Very few will ever see heaven. This is why this time has historically been know as doomsday. It is the day when most who have ever lived meet their appointed eternal doom.

Now that you're all encouraged, we'll continue.

Lots of non-religious people see a war to end all wars for our future. This war will happen by chance and will involve nuclear weapons and the total extinction of earth's life. Millions of years of evolution will be lost forever. In other words, all known life forms will cease to exist.

Hum, that wasn't exactly happy either, was it?

To the less astute, doomsday is when "the crap hits the fan." It's very personal. These folk couldn't care less about the future of mankind. To them it's a time when their personal lives go down the toilet, so ta speak.

There are more and I know you'd all love to read them but it just so happens I have to do a little work today.

ta-ta ...sleep tight, don't let the vampires suck your blood.

I have a very clear memory back in the Fifties one evening visiting my late aunt's farm. There was the most incredible display of northern lights, that went on and on, and this was on a N/S line of Chicago. It must have been an absolutely amazing solar storm. the whole sky in every direction was lit up, extremely bright, whereas normal northern lights we saw at night tended to be a small display in the north.

America is already the longest living democracy in history. How much longer can it last?

I've considered that fact myself a few times....kind of spooky when you examine things under that light, and why the others really failed. :laughing9:

Making it short and simple it is believed by many that most democracy failed after following a cycle. The cycle tends to go something vague like people voted into power, people in power serve the majority of the people, the people in power decide they can do what they want, the people who voted those people into power realize something is wrong, the problem becomes common place, then one day the people wake up and lose faith in their government, and eventually restructure it. Sometime leading to an internal war that weakens that society enough for another society to take advantage and move in and take power.

More or less meaning, if we turn on our government and a civil war escalates from it, China moves in and takes over what ever they don't already own....

And our founders knew this. They unfortunately thought that the American people would stay virtuous and educated enough that they would never try to be a democracy.

After all, a democracy is best illustrated by 2 wolves and a sheep deciding what is for supper. It simply does not work, never has, and always leads to totalitarianism. Funny how many people think we are supposed to be a democracy!

The native Americans believed the earth was a big turtle swimming through the great waters. I think today the turtle has been caught, gutted, and deep fried.
