Was shown a small(three inch blade?)pocket knife tonight that had recently visited the U.S. capital city. There were multiple places it was not allowed. One place it was assured it would not be returned should confiscation occur and a kind suggestion was made where it could be stashed out side and retrieved later. Some one with ties to another toured facility with no knives allowed took possession till visit was over. Having habitually worn a small belt knife for so many years caused myself to be escorted from an establishment ,yes i can read apparently not all ways when i should.(casino lites blind!)
Most schools no longer allow them though like most other places that restrict them use them for the tools they are.
Not unusual to see knives on belts here, especially during fall season, and folders year around. No knives signs at some but by no means all bars(have not checked them all l.o.l.).

Where do you see "no knives" ?

Got mine confiscated at the hospital where my wife is being treated. Fortunately the cute little campus policewoman "held" them for me until I left. She returned them when I was ready to board the elevator to leave.

Helps to be nice when they confront you. I had forgotten to leave the big one in the jeep, and someone saw it when I grabbed my wallet to buy a coke. She told me that if I had been confrontational they were going to arrest me because it is against the law to carry ANY weapon onto State University property . . . including batons or any defensive weapon. Heck, she even took my Gerber Shortcut.

I remember back in 1980 walking around the U.S. Capital building with a 4" Buck Knife and no one batted an eye until I accidentally walked into the Senate chambers without being in the tour group. For some reason that big red headed guard made me leave, but they didn't take my knife. He was really big too. I was 5' 11" and 250 pounds. He had to pick me up about 6" so he could talk to me "eye to eye".

Being nice does help. casino guards were understanding and let my embarrassed self return after securing it out side. I thanked them for their patience.
Was not interested in finding out what results would be of contesting tribal law when on their property as a guest that's for sure.

Pocket knives with a 3" blade or larger are not legal to carry in New York City - at all! :dontknow: Doesn't stop anyone, but you could be arrested if the police were having a bad day.
