Jersey this is what my reply was directed at. Do you think our forefathers waited until the British fired on them to debate or discuss what they would do if the british tried to take their arms? What we are discussing are what ifs.

There should be no question about this. Solders will fire on civilians. Our history proves that. Not only recent history, Kent State, Waco, Ruby Ridge, but also many clubbed and beat during the Civil Rights struggle, the anti war protests of the 60's, 70's. The Army bombing striking coal workers and more.
Any one that's been a solder knows, you do what your told. Surveys mean nothing.
A friend serving in the National Guard during the riots in our cities in the 60's was told "There will be NO body count period! Any bodies will be disposed in the sewers." He said there was no question in his mind what he was to do.
An enemy will be created in a solders mind, foreign or domestic. For those that think they will shoot back really should take a hard look at Waco. It's hard to take out a tank. A Government will stop at nothing to preserve itself if necessary.
Our Government has already hobbled the 2nd. Now you have the right to bear arms that wouldn't stand a chance in a modern conflict.

military personel would certainly fire on civilians ... given the circumstance, it might warrant a medal and a promotion ... it's happened throughout our history ... i don't believe that's the real question, the real question should be "is the gov't willing to use the military to go after it's citizenry" ... sure feels like they are setting the table to do it and have no consequences for their actions ...

To HVACKERS point ... "a government will stop at nothing to preserve itself if necessary" ... our representative republic has been on the way out for some time ... piece by piece, little by little, keep digging up treasure fellas because something wicked this way comes ... you'll need it
