I often find those who are prejudice or bigoted generally have no notion of history. The uneducated dont realize that many many groups of folks have been discriminated against throughout history and even in this country. Reading that post just reminded me that the same "traits" the writer was accusing the minorities of having were the same that my wasp ancestors were accusing the Irish and Italians of having. Obviously most would consider it foolish to put such labels on Americans of Irish and Italian decent now a days.

Bigotry tends to go hand and hand with lack of education and social opportunities so while I feel bad for the folks perpetrating it I can't let it pass without comment.

Exactly!! Some Americans of German decent ended up in camps too I believe.

Of course they couldn't round them all up or we would have lost the head of our army, navy and Air Force if my memory serves me right!!

I know that there was a German POW "work camp" in my hometown of Lawrence, Kansas during WWII.

Great post Scott! You got me with the picture of the twin towers...hit the old heart strings. I was in Albany, NY when they went down. First year of med school, dozens of my classmates were scared to death...I saw a lot of tears that day. It was very difficult.

I like you stocks. You aren't afraid to bite right to the tootsie roll center after just one lick. That takes strong teeth friend.
BUT....how do you explain the GOP? Whose leaders are usually highly educated. But socially ignorant. Of which I was a card carrying member until post 9/11 and the Patriot Act. Since then I have been a staunch Constitutionalist, and Libertarian. I always choose the path of lesser evils. But I know that occasional evils are a necessary to maintain balance. I choose my evils carefully, sometimes after heavy contemplation, but on more than one occasion it has taken heavy drinking.
