    Help.

Trying to figure out the furnace filter "flow" direction.

This is my first time changing the filter since I moved in so I can only go by what was in there. My gut tells me the old filter was installed incorrectly. Not to mention it was a $4 piece of crap filter. My wife has asthma and we have cats so I bought a case of the allergen grade filters.

The arrow is supposed to point in the direction of the flow coming from the return duct to the blower motor up to the air vents. That is how I have my new filter installed pointing towards the blower motor. Does this sound correct?

    Ben,

Sounds like you have it right, the air needs to be filtered prior to entering the house, and not in the return, if these are the filters that slide into the duct work, they are sometimes also one directional, and only will slide in one way.....good luck.....Gary

    Ben,

Not sure but the instructions should be on the filter with the proper installation method.....another little trick is your wife suffers from allergies is buy some cheap filters and cut them to size and place them in the return airducts to filter out some of the impurities before they make it to the furnace ducts.

    Good luck.

    Squig,

Wood stoves are great heat, but cutting and splitting the 5-6 cord of wood got real old, and now here in Vt., my propane is considerably cheaper that dry wood at 250+ dollars per cord....I do envy you though, and I really miss my wood stove on the real cold windy days....Gary
