Benghazi probe into ‘high crimes’ by administration

April 8, 2013 by Janeen Capizola

Over 700 Special Operations veterans sent a letter Monday to the U.S. House of Representatives asking members to support the creation of a House Select Committee to investigate the attack on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi on Sept. 11.

The open letter to members of the House was published on the Special Operations Speaks website, along with a petition the rest of us can sign demanding an investigation into the terror attack that killed four U.S. diplomats.

The letter to Congress said in part:

The purpose of this letter is to encourage all members of the US House of Representatives to support H.Res. 36, which will create a House Select Committee on the Terrorist Attack in Benghazi. It is essential that a full accounting of the events of September 11, 2012, be provided and that the American public be fully informed regarding this egregious terrorist attack on US diplomatic personnel and facilities. We owe that truth to the American people and the families of the fallen.

This was the most severe attack on American diplomatic facilities and personnel since the attacks on the US Embassies in Tanzania and Kenya in 1998. Thus far, it appears that there has been no serious effort to determine critical details of this attack. This is inexcusable and demands immediate attention by the Congress. Congress must show some leadership and provide answers to the public as to what actually occurred in Benghazi. Americans have a right to demand a full accounting on this issue.

The letter lists 16 specific questions the retired Special Operations professionals want addressed by the special House Select Committee.

The questions asked include, “Why was there no military response to the events in Benghazi,” “Where are the survivors?” and “Why did the Commander-in Chief and Secretary of State never once check in during the night to find out the status of the crisis situation in Benghazi?”

The letter noted that 60 members of Congress have already called for the creation of a special Select Committee.

Also published on the Special Operation Speaks website Monday was a petition addressed to Congress and President Obama demanding not only the formation of the Special Committee to investigate “Benghazigate,” but demanding Congress hold members of the administration accountable if they determine “high crimes and misdemeanors” were committed.

The petition in part reads:

Therefore, we the undersigned call on members of Congress to launch a full and open investigation into the events surrounding the massacre in Benghazi, including, but not limited to, why requests for increased levels of security at the embassy prior to the attack were denied by the Obama Administration, when exactly President Obama and his advisors became aware of the true circumstances of the attack, why the President and his advisors then misled the public about the nature of the attack, and if high crimes and misdemeanors were committed during this campaign of misinformation.

We further call on members of Congress to take the necessary steps to ensure that, if high crimes and misdemeanors were committed by the Obama Administration, those responsible for their perpetration be held accountable.

Stock, I read your response to treasure hunters thread, just this once. And again you offer nothing worthwhile, just a remark that is designed to spin the thread into a you said this and such and such. You seem to be on a crusade bent on discrediting anyone that have conservative points of view.
The point of this thread is to bring forth the petition and not allow benhgazi to slip into the past unnoticed.
Your constant rebukes on conservative value's is why I put you on ignore, good day.
I signed the petition.

I have signed every petition to charge George w bush and dick cheney with war crimes for the lies that led to the Iraq invasion and subsequent death of over 4400 military personnel and untold numbers of civilians. I've also signed to have them prosecuted for allowing the use of depleted uranium munitions whos' causes will linger long after the United States military presence is gone. How about you guys? What's good for the goose and all that.

If the facts come to light, what then should be done? Is not the commander in chief in charge of situations such as this? He told whatshis name to
"do what is necessary" and then was not heard from till the next day. Are we going to take that as an answer? Is that how a "president" reacts?
It go's all the way to the top.
