The burro had a deal. A man could claim the burro and use it for hauling, mining etc. and he was to treat it well and turn loose when done.
There are herds in some places. S.Dakota in Custer Park they will stick their heads into a car looking for food. One store even has cookies especially made for burro's. Oatman NV too.

Animal Lovers cause that :( it's like the Pigeons. and the Geese at parks & Lakes.
.
and of course Gulls in Atlantic City.
Don't walk with a Plate of food in your hand like a Waiter Walks.
A Gull will swoop down and Nail the plate & At the same time steal the food !
Happened to me with a Funnel Cake one year.

it's one of the reasons I Feel the only Good Animal is the one
on my Dinner Plate !

I wonder how many have lived 'with' burros ?
Lived in Rincon Grande (very western edge of Mexico State) pop 300 ? and at night, but particularly ~4AM, the burros wandering through the dirt streets would feel the need, or perhaps the want, and sometimes just fighting with the most incredible cacophony for a good 1/2 hour.
A burro w/o a rope around its neck is not docile.

I'd like to borrow that burro for a few days. Would tie it up next to my neighbors chicken coop.... the one with the Big noisy Bantam rooster!
