American Home Journal May 1897 Vol.1 No. 1

We went to an auction on Saturday and I bought a bunch of vintage sheet music. The newest is 1901 and the oldest is 1876.

Would anybody know if there is any value to this American Home Journal May 1897 Vol.1 No. 1 (by the American Musical Association)? I tried to do a search on Google and Ebay but didn't have any luck finding info. I am wondering, if this is rare would I be able to make some money on it? I will add a picture after I have a chance to reduce it.

No. The "American Home Journal" was only in print for a year {1897) before it was changed to "Conkey's Home Journal". It was what you would have called a "family story monthly" from Chicago. A collection of numbers at the Chicago Historical Library shows it was at first a rather high-grade mail order paper in contents, but it became one of the ordinary kind, secured a circulation of 200,000 and in 1905 was merged with "Woman's Magazine", of St. Louis. As for the price, I couldn't tell you. Maybe you can contact the Chicago Historical Society for some more information. The value may lie within the contents of the actual text inside the publication. or the fact that it seems to be the first issue of that mag. with that name, that was only in print for a year. I forgot to mention I also have the December 1897 issue. Anybody know if selling them separate would be better than together?

More than likely. But I wouldn't sell anything before I did a thorough research on their worth and/or rarity.
