Monty's Health Condition - Update

Had my angiogram this morning early and was home by 11230 PM. The doctor said my heart is in "good" shape, no blockage anywhere! That's good news to say the least. Now he is wanting me to see a pulmonary specialist. He thinks my problem lies in a breathing irregularity. Well DUH!! I told him I had one lung full of scar tissue due to a staph infection I got from my back surgery. Also I have smoked for 45 years! So, I'll loook kup a likely puilmonary guy and make an appointment when I get around to it. I've been the inhale route and it didn't help much not to mention the many warnings of bad side effects on the label such as bronchitis, pneumonia, tuberculosis, stroke, oh and death! Did I say death? Now that's a pretty serious one I'd say! I feel ok most of the time, just lack of energy, unable to do hard lifting or labor, running is a no no, and I get out of breath easily. I can and have been living with that for a long time. I guess it's all in what you are use to. So, not to worry my fine friends on T-net, I plan to be around a long time. Just have to take it slow, so when you see me coming just please wait up a sec. Monty

Re: Monty's Health Condition - Update

Monty, one of the best ways to build up your lungs is to start playing the harmonica. It will do wonders for asthma and bronchitis sufferers. You will shortly see an improvement in your ability to breath easier. If you do consider it, you can go to Harmonica Country.com and find all kinds of harmonica songs to learn on. Good Luck.

Monty I wish you well. Take it easy and leave the women alone. I suffer from being out of wind with just a little walking and stairs are a no-no. I am wondering if I will be able to walk to the beach let alone drag my heavy pouch back to the car.

Take Care Monty,
Sandman :coffee2:

Another thing Jim,

The wife (Cardio Pulmonary - RN) says the best way to build the lungs back up is to do normal things.
Start slow and push a little farther every day,
Eventually you won't even realise how far you have come.

Re: Monty's Health Condition - Update

I'm not ready for the rocking chair yet! But it might be getting ready for me. My biggest problem is that I have 16 year old eyes looking out of a 63 year old body. I still have a tendency to try to do the things I did 20 years ago and it is so frustrating when I can't do it anymore! I've had this shortness of breath thing ever since I had an accident 10 years ago and broke my back. The surgery left me with a severe staph infection in my back and lungs. My lungs are full of scar tissue that can't be reversed. So if you see me fall over and wheeze after a short but strenuous walk, it's normal and I will get over it with a few minutes huffing and puffing. At least now I know I'm not having a heart attack! I'll be digging again as soon as I can squat down and dig without ripping the stitches out of my groin. The doctor says a couple of weeks. I have a club hunt in two weeks and you can bet I will be there! Meantime I think I'll spend my hunting time doing research and locating likely spots.
rockhound - I have a cousin who plays the harmonica professionally. He just lives a couple of miles from me and I may dig out my Dad's old Honer and see if he will give me some lessons. Thanks for the tip. I'll try anything to be able to do more diggin'. Monty

Easy there, Monty. I'm sure that when your 110th birthday rolls around, you'll still be able to handle the candles.

And after that, the rest is a piece of cake, right?

Monty! Sorry to read about - but glad to hear you're going be around another day or two!

If you start playing the harmonica post some videos for us to watch...

Slow and steady wins the race.

OHIO Monty, ya kiddie, only 63?: You remind me of what mi mommy used to say to me when I asked about death,"don't worry son, only the good go young" I still don get it actually ? However, you will make it to my 150 th birthday party. All of the booze, broads, etc that you can handle, the gals will have gigolo's of their choice.
