I had no idea how good a Batman movie could be. The first one was great, Nicholson did a good job as the Joker...or so I thought.
Nicholsons performance was a joke.
Thats right, I said it. Jack Nicholsons Joker was merely Jack in a costume compared to the Joker presented by the late Heath Ledger who went to his grave portraying this character. Heath was suffering from lack of sleep worrying over this role and he was taking pills to get some shut eye and to get out of character, he overdid it and died. Jack warned him. Heaths death was a direct result of his being the Joker and after seeing the film I can understand why. He was breathtaking as the villain. Simply amazing. The man deserves a posthumous Oscar or ten for his role in this movie. Easily the best movie I've seen in years. If you were going to pass on seeing it because of Heaths death or because he was "one of them gay cowboys" then you are doing yourself a disservice. It was awesome.
