I live Not far from the Historical Old New Castle area. If your refering to the sandy Beach that's in the Battery Park area i would think it's off Limits to detecting but I'm not sure if that's considered the Old New Castle Beach your refering to. There's a Sign Posted near the Parks entrance " Prohibiting Metal Detecting" There's other smaller Sandy Beach area's like the Old Deemer Beach where i see people fishing there once in a while. I like taking walks along that trail along the river and Route 9 Road is not far off. Years ago before that No Metal Detecting Posting On the Sign went up, I did Find a 1811 Large Cent and a Eagle "A" Military Button in the park there. Now you will get in trouble if you get caught swinging a detector in the park. It's a Shame that you can't metal detect there anymore. :)

Thanks for the info. I was reading about G. W. landing there and thought maybe I would find his shoe buckle or pocket change. I guess not.
