I hunt hogs quite a bit in north Texas. I'm always running across old wells in the woods or old sites that seem lost to time..and I never have a detector with me! Well, now I'm ready. This little number can ride in a backpack and be ready to go in a minute. I'll do this with my AT Pro as well at some point, but for now, the ACE will do..

You might try a good strong magnet and a good strong rope and do some magnet fishing.

Yes, I've done a little fishin with a magnet. The wells I find in the woods always seem to be filled in though with dirt and debris. Still, I'm sure one or two will have a cool find just waiting..

Come to south Texas, find old abandoned oil wells, buy the land cheap and IF you're lucky, Halliburton will come along and make you an offer you can't refuse. Trust me, you'll be much happier...

Depending how far down the well goes, you also might try tying a rope around the handle of a 5 gallon bucket and lowering it in the well and seee what you can pull up.Don't forget to drill allot of small holes all around the bucket and on the bottom to let out some of the water weight.
