Fort Bridger, Wyoming ingots found 1936

3 ingots were recovered near Ft. Bridger, Wyoming in 1936. The ingots were originally thought to be lead, so stored in an old garage for 25 years. The son of one finder later sawed the ingot in two, and immediately recognized the ingots were not lead. But citation merely states the ingots contained over 1500 ounces. If not lead, perhaps silver?

most likely (3) 500 oz silver bars---lead and old dull silver --do look a bit alike to some folks

That's what I was guessing, Ivan. Older silver ingots exposed to sunlight would quickly develop silver sulphide or silver chloride, which is why it was used in photography emulsions for so long.
