by putting the Fisher 10" Elliptical DD Coil (the one that comes with the gold bug pro 2) on the f5, will the f5 be an adequate prospecting detector.

Bad idea

incompatible coils

Fisher hobby detector accessories

and the F5 is more of a "silver frequency" detector.....

You saying the GoldBug II or Gold Bug Pro? There is not GoldBugPro 2....

GoldBug and GoldBugPro coils will interchange with the F5 if the connectors match, older units have a pushin type.

Yes, I saw that just now. Had me doublechecking Fisher's website.

On my F5, gold rings and coin depth is about same as coins.

But on my GoldbugPro, the 19khz frequency gives me 4 inches more than other metals in depth tests. About the same for the F70. (13khz)

You'd be better off buying an at gold, xterra 705 or a gold bug

Sent from my expensive phone I really don't need

You saying that a F5 with the DD coil in all metal mode won't be effective on nuggets?

The F5 all metals mode has enough performance (esp. coupled with the 5 or 10 inch DD searchcoil) for casual gold prospecting, but it's not quite there for serious prospecting.

When doing field testing of gold machines, I usually bring along a Teknetics Omega just as a handy reference. It's got about the same all metals mode performance characteristics as the Fisher F5, just a different user interface.
