Thanks Montana Jim. I thought it was but did not know they got to be several feet in size.

11KBP we found some pretty interesting things there. I need to do a post in Ancient Indian artifacts about it.

Sorry I never knew I was going to be posting it here. Yes I think it was about two feet in size length. Also another one under the moss to the left if you look close. I left it alone.I will go through those archives and see if I have any more of it.
Thank you for taking time to respond.

Sandcreek4 it was a winter shelter mostly. They moved to them to collect the hickory nuts. There were so many of the morter and pestles we could not cary them out.We actually unearthed ancient steps built up some steep grades to walk up.First I have ever seen. The place is beautiful and I do have the archeological rights in my lease to be there. It of course had been dug before as most have. Rare is the one that has not. It does remind me as well of that wonderful movie.

I don't think those are fossils. It looks like some flowstone, which would be common in a rock area like that, especially if any of that is limestone. The flowstone is covered by moss on the one side, but the white flowstone is pretty clear in the other one.

Now that is a interesting thought. The only flow stone I have seen was in caves and was always on a floor with a slight grade. These are on a wall looking straight at them. What do you think??

I've seen a lot of flowstone on rock walls like that in the eastern US. If you get back, it's pretty easy to check it out. That looks like a really cool rock shelter, BTW.
