Found on beach looks like a tooth

I'm no expert, but that could very well be a sharks tooth.

I agree with Casper, it does not look like a sharks tooth, at least any I have seen. Shark's teeth are not pyramid shaped looking down from the point. They are fairly "flat" and less three dimensional than the OP's find. I have found a bunch of them and have seen many types in the American Museum of Natural History, and none look like what is pictured by OP.

Unfortunately it just looks like a chunk of sand-worn concrete, the majority of the item being a piece of gravel/rock used to bulk-up or "extend" the more expensive cement component. Good luck with your future hunts!

Thank you you all for the info. Unless there are spiritual wizard under the sea creating right angles then what I have def seems like a tooth of some kind with the roots obviously being at that bottom. The hard looking concrete he is talking about is clearly natural cConglomerate one might not be able to tell from the pic but with my own I eyes I know. But I'm still lost as far as the perfect pyramid shape as far from an orca maybe ?

This is absolutely NOT a tooth. There is nothing to suggest this being a tooth at all. Even if it was somehow one and I was wrong, it would be so worn down that it might as well be a rock. The concretion makes it look like a tooth with a root, but that is just an optical illusion.

Even if it's not a tooth, the find still has some bite! Very cool whatever it is.

I don't think it is a tooth . I think it is natural... as in rock. I may be completely wrong as i am not an expert. I hope it is , though .

Looks like a hoof core fossil of a camel or deer among a concretion.

Does look like a tooth, might not be , but still cool. From what I've read , shark teeth vary on looks depending on the beach it was found. What beach did you find it on?

The line down the middle appears in several pictures on the web. The thickness is the only thing keeping me on the fence with this one . It might be worth your time to contact someone at your area university.

that is a chunk of concrete with a rock stuck in it... i would say it came to the beach and not from the beach.

It looks like a tooth but at the same time it doesnt. I used to find shark teeth on Camp Lejeunes beach when I was stationed there.
