Not really sure ,I think it's some sort of tree bark or a plant stalk??? I don't lug them back anymore I just take pictures the camera weighs much less. [if they are special I will lug them although some are bigger than basketballs]

Hello Joe G from MD! These were found in Kentucky, correct? I was recently visiting EKU as my son will be attending this fall. I stopped to check out Silver Creek and found the entire rocky shore line contains fossils! I also found a softball size stone which appears to be chert and is very heavy for it's size. Anywho, I love the second to the last pic, really great find!
