Obviously I am way too late to suggest Banner, but this may be the most significant find I'Ve seen on this side of the pond, on this site since I've been a member.
STUNNING! To be honest, when I first saw it I thought it was Native American made, not Fur Trade. Hadn't noticed you where you were from, so never entered my mind.
So cool!I think I'de get my diving certification and be back there as soon as humanly able.

Wow.
Certainly the nicest piece of trade silver I've ever seen outside of a museum. Incredible find!
I think I'd have stopped breathing if i'd come across that....

Folks,

About the only other fur trade silver item I've seen posted up over the years that compares was a fur trade silver pipe also found by Guy.

It is much more rare and ornate them most silver items we see. It must have been commissioned to the silversmith for a significant chief. I am sure that is almost like the holy grail in trade goods with the marker mark. Thanks for the chance to see this.. I am sure we will never see another like this on the Banner bar.

Its like a Gorget. The British first traded the Silver moon or crescent shaped ones like they wore then later they were made specifically as a trade good when trading for furs. Here are some paintings of them being worn.

Most definitely Bill! :occasion14:
I was scrolling down through the CMD finds of the month last week, to place my vote, and this was the last piece I saw!
I thought... this is a no brainer, Guy's trade silver find is one of the most incredible pieces I've seen so far this year.

I thought Bruces' trade tomahawk was the best from last year!
Dave

Holy mackerel that is huge! I also have Cruikshank and Narcise Roy trade silver broaches, but only about half that size.

Guy that is such a remarkable piece that it leaves me speechless. You have it all in one find, rarity, condition, size, makers mark....its all there. You should be proud of that find and I thank you for taking the time to share it with all of us.

James.
