Proof sets

Today I picked up a 1996 silver proof set and a 1997 silver proof set $20 each.

is that a good deal? just asking, I have found 5 or 6 this year alone in the vacant houses I do. I thought they were left behind because of no value

You have found silver proof sets?? Or proof sets? The silver proof sets have a 90% silver half dollar a 90% silver quarter and a 90% silver dime so $0.85 face of silver I paid 23x face so little over spot but its a silver proof set. They usually go for about $30 as a set some ppl buy at spot. So $0.85x 20 =$17.00 I paid $3 over spot but it is a set and I needed them to fill a hole. Still need a 1995 and 1994 silver proof set.

dont forget the riciculously low mintages on the silver sets!!!

I'd say you did good. Those proof sets are great. No margin to buy and resell really, but if you're collecting them you got it at a good price!
