Got this desktop vintage cast iron base Kwik Kool fan & other than the cord it is in excellent shape & spins great. Paid $0.25 at a GS for it. I took it apart to instal a new cord & to my surprise the lead wires are single strain copper wire & not very thick wire either. I have never replaced a cord on a vintage fan so maybe this is just how it is. The 2 lead wires are the same thickness as the wire in the coil of the motor thus it makes some sense it's that way. Will I be OK soldering a thicker wire to these wires? I'm guessing yes since that's the way it seems to have been before hand but it looks as if the cord was replaced once before too as a thicker wire has been added to the switch side & it is not an original wire. Heres some pix of the wire & fan, it should clean up extremely well!

You can buy correct rewiring kits on ebay for most old fans. Correct type wire helps resale value.
