Hello everyone,

This weekend, I made two purchases that were much more than I typically pay. (I hardly ever pay more than $20 for anything) I will post the other on a different thread.

One was 3 sets of Yemeni jewelry. The lady who sold them was a former US diplomat to Italy and said they were given to her as gifts. She has never worn them. I have no idea about this type of jewelry and did not see too much on ebay. Looking for opinions on how much I should sell them for and how. I am hoping I did really well here.

Set1:
Necklace - 22 inches - not silver
Bracelet - 6 inches - not silver
Ring - Size: 6.5 - makers mark and tested as silver
Earrings - 2.25 inches

Oranges beads appear to be stone. Any idea what type of stone?

Set2:
Necklace - 18.5inches - tested as silver
Bracelet - 6.5 inches - tested as silver
Ring - Size: 9 - tested as silver
Earrings - 2.25 inch

Stones are peach colored.

Set3:
- Necklace, Bracelet, and Earrings - case is sealed.
- Appears to be silver and some type of polished grey beads.

Thanks for looking and thanks ahead of time for help!

Cool. This stuff is very hot right now. Beads look like coral.

The round beads do look like coral, nice.
The other earring/necklace agate and/or carnelian? Polished silver beads, hematite, no?
Coral can, at times, fetch a lot. I would think the back story would make them more valuable (to one that buys that type stuff).
I'd get the Arabic translated, that one pin, with what looks like a church carved in the rocks, may be a sacred site/world heritage site.
Cool stuffs! Let us know if you find out more.

Thanks for the info!

It looks like the place on the 3rd set is the Palace of Iman Yahya. Going to do more research later.

The 3rd set is sealed so I haven't tested it. Going to see if I can open without damaging it.

If anyone has any more info, please share!

thx,
b

I agree with Cat. Getting that presentation label (or whatever it is) translated may help the value of that set. Very nice looking pieces. I think you're right about the pin being the Palace of Imam Yahya. Looks dead on to me.[h=1][/h]

Now that is cool. It was my understanding that anything given to a diplomat over $25 is considered property of the US government.
