I've been looking for a piece of this historical cookware for years, and fleabay prices had been crazy, and natch, shipping kills you.

Today I found one, with a glass lid, in very good condition. Don't know if the lid is original, but the casserole is not pitted, and just needs a light cleaning.

Six bucks.

Can't wait to try it!

I love vintage cookware. All we use are Pyrex anymore for just about everything, well Pyrex and Fire King. The lid on your casserole tureen is not original. Wrong type of finial/handle and they are always embossed with a Knight's helmet and crossed battle axes.

Aha! The usual glass lid handle resembles the handles on the casserole itself.

Oddly enough, I did see a lid like mine listed with what they called a Guardian canning kettle on the 'bay. I wonder if the pieces got mixed up.
