P1000344.JPG P1000345.JPG P1000346.JPG Got this Tarpon fly reel at a garage sale last year. It was in a milk crate with garden tools and other non related fishing gear. I held it up to the guy and asked, how much?? He shrugged his shoulders and said, $4 bucks like five would of been too much... Don't think it's ever been used!

It's a lure. Rapala No.5 Risto Rap that is free with the game. The game hasn't been used, but the box has been damaged a bit.

The lure is probably worth $20 by itself.

Reddogpatch, it could be several makers. Probably not worth much though. It is cool you found it metal detecting.

Heck of a find on that reel.

Here is a recent find. $8 for a big tackle box with lures and other junk. Let me know if anything stands out. Thanks for looking!

Sold them all.
If its old (tackle box) and reasonably priced, I will generally buy the whole box and go through it later so I can move on.
I have found vintage reels in boxes, cash, early lures in original boxes bla bla. I have mostly kept the finds, rather than sell them.

Since I spend much of my free time at the RI shore, I am always looking for collectible or useable salt water items. Generally the “SALT” is very bad news for items. A few years back, I came across a sale on the way to work (nowhere near the ocean) that had some great items. A 1700’s house with original family members (descendants) still using it. Among the pile I made, were early salt water casting lures, unused mostly, in original boxes. Wish I had some pics. Yup, sold them babies. There was a very upset buyer looking through my pile as I was getting ready to load the truck, he thought he hit the mother load, NOT.

Happy hunting.

Penn Long Beach rod 6 or 6.5 not sure ...
W. Penn Level wind 309.
on a scale of 1-10 condition wise... a 7-8 ... with some love a 9.
Bought it with 2 other open face reels/ Quantum and a Shakespeare... which had corrosion... but I did not care... just wanted the Penn setup...
On reg decent poles.... and two sml single tray tackle boxes with a bunch of new weights and a few lures...
AND
Two small old pocket knives well rusted in the bottoms of boxes...
Which I have freed up and looked up...
Worth at least 10 each as is.

PAid $5 for everything.
That's the guys price after I said I am just interested in the Penn setup...
OH and some big heavy aluminum grill top that boxes were in. (scrapyard bound one day).

PS> Everything was covered in a thick layer of black WD-40 dirt... which I love...
It makes everything look real bad.

You must see whats beyond the grime. :)

Do you think it's best to sell as a lot?

Is the bottom right one in he first pic marked?

That is a good color on that spook. Technically that color is $25 or so, but it looks like the price is down to about $10 or so right now. If you sold as a lot, what would you ask?

Yeah for a BPS rod, that is kind of surprising. That was a good find though. Those reels are between $25-$75 for that model depending on condition. Market is down right now though.
