Made a great score today! The seller called it a "broken old silver coin from Mexico". She wanted $15 for it, I bought it without even haggling. Brought it home and did some research. The coin turned out to be a Potosi, Bolivia 2 Real hammered Cob from the reign of King Philip II of Spain! Only produced from 1574 - 1598! To put that into perspective Spain was at war with the Inca Empire from ‎1532–1572 and the mint at Potosi was first established in 1574. In other words this coin was most definitely made from silver mined by the newly enslaved Inca after the Spanish defeated them in the war! I glued the two halves of the coin back together with some Elmer's glue and now I'm really happy. I bet someone with a metal detector found this in a field long ago - and maybe the coin had been split in two by a plow or something. :)

Very cool. I'd get a bezel made and where it as a pendant.
