This made my day. Paid $80, went out to the car tested it, tested for 18 K!!! I was so happy. First 18 K gold watch I ever found!!!
Works great. Runs smoothly. I cannot believe I found this at an estate sale!! Then I take it to my watch guy to have him check it for me. He takes the back off, reads it out loud 20 microns.... My heart sank... Gold plated!

I looked up the price for 18k ones before I saw you said it was plated. How much is a plated one worth?

To be honest I'm not really sure what it's worth. I just started an auction at $99. Hopefully break even. Or make a little bit. Oh well, I mean I've taken chances in the past and it's paid off well.

If it was 18 K I would've never made back my $80! It would have ended up in the safe! Until someday.... This thread makes me sad. I wanted an 18 k watch... [emoji30][emoji25][emoji33]

I've seen those before in pawn shops. I believe they were made in the 60s and 70s, but I thought they were marked very small on the rim or some place on the outer case with that 20 micron mark. Still it is a fine watch.

Keep at it. You will find you 18kt gold watch soon. Look for the Swiss hallmark on the case. ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1477229007.092602.jpg
