I "scored' this today at a garage sale for a buck. I have no clue and neither did the seller, as he indicated that he bought a storage unit, and it was in one of the boxes. It may be a musical device, but that is just a long shot guess. As always my friends, thank you for your time and feedback. It is always appreciated.

Maybe it is music related, thinking like violins or larger.

I'd say that even just the case alone is worth well more than a dollar!
