Went to an estate auction today and the prices were crazy low. Here is a few pictures of what I got with prices.
Large bell from 1886 (~2 feet wide) - $115

Large snail fossil (~12 inches across) - $18. I'm going to get it cut and polished.

Pile of sterling from weighted candlesticks - $10. There is 5.05 Troy ounces of sterling.

Howard Millar mantle clock - $1

Carl Werner clock - $5. Works perfectly. I can't seem to find anything like this online though. All I can find made by carl Werner is wall clocks. Any help?

I bought a good bit more than this but this is just what I have pictures of right now. The main thing I went for was they had a nice forge (a ~$500 forge) at the auction. Ended up getting it for $85 but it is still taken apart and in my truck. Thanks for looking!

It was the type of auction that if you showed up with a trailer and $5k you could have easily made $20k. Was insane.

Thanks! I went only planning on buying the forge and the bell. The forge to use and the bell to sell! Already have someone interested in the bell at $400 OBO!

Wow. Is the bell actually 2' wide or is that the measurement of the mounting bracket? If it's the mounting bracket those sell in my neck of the woods for less than $100 at estate sales & less then $200 at the antique malls.

Just measured it. It is 14 inches across. Already have an offer of $200 for it and he said he may could do $300; he just has to talk to his gf first. Also selling the small clock to him for $50. For only spending $250 at the auction total I don't mind this at all!

Nice, that's why I love going to estate auctions. It always surprises me when a family sells off their things or their passed ones things that it don't bring them much of what it's worth. Unless it's guns. People go nuts for them and overpay a lot. Crazy.

That's still more than they go for here. Always amazes me how different regions have different pricing on some things.

I find it crazy as well. The people who owned this estate were still alive though, just moving to Alaska. I have bought WW1 dog tags and other very personal stuff like that before at estate auctions. I don't understand how people don't care about their family history and heirlooms.
