Looks like 3 Nice Rotary Phones there :icon_thumright:

That pale green one is very cool! I have never seen one like that before, although admittedly I'm not very knowledgeable about vintage rotary telephones.

Special ring for each house on the party line.

And don't let mom find out you were listening to someone else's conversation or it was a whoopin'.

I don't remember a Special ring Here.

Actually we had a Private Line, But they would get crossed with the party line on occasion.

There was Choices you could Make in my time

Party Lines
Private lines

Public Numbers that went in a phone book}
(still have them)
Private Numbers that don't get listed........}

Now I don't have a Landline at all.
When I bought a Cell Phone I figured why pay for both ?

I was pretty young, but I want to say our special ring was two short rings ---- then two more short rings. I believe the neighbors ring was three ---- then three more.

I remember getting what might be described as a "ghost" ring when someone else got a call. A couple of very faint dings. I was very young at the time also.

Boy am I behind the times. I just got rid of my landline 6 months ago when I moved up north. (had a cell phone since cost was 25¢ a minute and I don't even think you could text back then. at least I never did)

Now that I am settled in I still have a land line, sort of. When I got my cable and internet connected I chose to have phone too. I got the best price that way. But what phone did I use for my landline? A beige push button just like the one next to the funny green one. It has a very loud bell for the ringer and my wife hated that. I ended up getting a wireless home base phone with answering machine not because I wanted to but because half the time when I would "dial" a number the buttons would dial a different number. (lots of wrong numbers)

Do you notice I said DIAL? That is so antique. Since real dial phones there have been button phones and now smart touch screen phones and I still only hear DIAL a number. Boy do I get sidetracked. (that's an antique word too)

I remember growing up we had one exactly like the green one. Cool finds and the price was definitely right.
