Have you looked under the base for Brevettato - Italian maker of fine brass items - you have a very nice piece if so

Markings seem to be on the ink pad.
RA on the clock and Letter “T” on the feet.

The key says France on it. But that doesn’t mean its original to the piece though.

The R and A on the clock are for "re-tard", slow down and "advance" speed up the movement. R and A are usually, on wristwatches at least, on devices meant for the French market. Or so I believe I have learned as a novice watch collector.
