Hello everyone, I found this pair of Japanese cast iron lanterns on a Friday sale. They are definitely iron, and very, very heavy. I've seen that authenticated and confirmed truly original can command high prices. My challenge is confirming their authenticity. What has me doubting, is that they are a light green from the inside. The ones that I've seen are brown iron color throughout. Your help and insight is truly appreciated. Thank you. 20180805_221431.jpg 20180805_221359.jpg 20180805_221414.jpg 20180805_155940.jpg

They don't look old to me. The dead giveaway is the hinging on the doors.

Not necessarily, I have a 1870's potbellied stove with the same hinging mechanism. I have only seen it on old stuff, but it's still no guarantee

Why would iron rust green? I had a cannon that had green ‘patina/rust’ on it and I found it would rub right off
