That is a beautiful typewriter. The batwing models are my favorite. I bought one on Craigslist for 200 with a case in amazing shape and resold it on eBay for 500. He was extremely happy with the purchase. Very nice find!!

I have a real soft spot for old typewriters as I learned to type on one from 1943. I was only a kid at the time and I didn't have the strength to press the letter "A" with my pinky so I ended up reaching over with my right index finger to strike it when I needed the "A". To this day, i still type that way as a result. It looks really crazy, but I can type around 54 words per minute in that fashion.

I learned on a manual ('60's) before even starting H.S., typing about 60wpm. Got into my soph year in typing class on an elec, shot up to 85wpm. Got to be head typist for our school monthly newspaper & yearbook. My teacher was very impressed by learning on the manual first.
