Hello, I finally bought a gold loupe, it was in my bucket list. It's 18kt Gold, but I need help identifying the makers mark. It has a crown, an anchor, 750 mark, and an E as last marking. Has anybody seen this mark before. It weights about 25g. I sincerely appreciate it. Thanks.

Artslinger, I believe British hallmarks. The crown indicates gold, the 750 indicates 18K, the anchor indicates Assay Office was in Birmingham. The E I believe is a 1979 date code but I will let a true expert like Red-Coat weigh in to confirm or correct me on the date.

Yes ā€˜Rented Muleā€™ is spot on. Those are English hallmarks for 18K gold from the Birmingham assay office, with a 1979 date letter. The unique maker or sponsor mark is the one at the top, above the row of official assay marks but your picture isnā€™t great and I canā€™t read itā€¦ except possibly a ā€˜Cā€™ or ā€˜Gā€™, maybe a ā€˜Tā€™ and something else? Iā€™m not usually much help on modern makers. Tracing the maker may satisfy your curiosity but doesnā€™t usually affect the value on items like this in the way it might for, say, a ring or brooch if it were from a top maker.

Itā€™s a nice thing to have. I donā€™t know if I would trust myself with a solid gold loupe. I must have lost a dozen of the darned things over the years!

I never knew they made such a thing. Thatā€™s pretty cool! Only thing is I loose mine all the time!

Thank you very much Red Coat. I appreciate the additional confirmation. I'm in the same club with you, lost a lot of loupes. :-) This one, tough, I plan to wear around my neck with a gold chain as well. I will not lend it to anybody or take it off. We'll see how long that lasts! :-) Thanks again!
