I usually always run mine on the custom setting with my disc set at 35, and I hunt areas where I should be finding Indians, and yet so far nothing. I imagine many have already been cherry picked from the public areas i hunt over the years, but even on permissions where I am almost 100 percent certain have never been hunted, I have yet to see one. My question is, what signal range are they, because I may be walking right over them and not even know it. Thanks in advance!

Don't worry, if you got your coil over one you would know it was a good signal and find it. Those little buggers aren't that easy to find, I think I have found more large cents than indians, and I've hunted for fifty years in areas where they should be. Heck, I have probably found more barber silver and V nickels than indians. My early hunting was with a beep and dig detector, so all targets were dug, just not many indians. One day you will get one or more, just takes time and patience.

Thanks for the quick response! I hear ya, this game requires a ton of patience, which I'm used to being an avid fisherman, so no worries there, I'll get em' eventually! I just gotta keep swinging and dig the high tones.

*UPDATE* got my first IHP today, got her in a park I've spent many hours in actually, I just decided to dig everything with a decent tone in the 70's and boom! It rang in at 70 on the nose, and more of a mid-tone like a nickel. 20200922_214026.jpg

Congrats, that's super cool! Did you turn on iron audio when you came across it and if so was there much iron tone? Thanks for sharing.

I did not, the place I got it is loaded with iron, so I turn it off when I hunt there. I suppose I could try it on a bench test with it on and get back to you.

This is very true! They seem to not just hit in one spot for sure. On edge really affects where they hit.

That’s what I was wondering too. I’ve been hammering a untouched old township in the woods and the owners who’ve had it for 50 plus years have never let anyone hunt it. I’m so new to the AT Max that I could be passing by coins without knowing it even though I use Zero, 38 on Iron Disc, and sensitivity down 2. I mean what is your silvers and stuff reading on the AT Max? This is my first Garrett, my twin brother got one the other day too but he’s had several AT series detectors
