Purchasing a TreasureHound EagleEye Searchcoil really necessary?

Only if you expect to find a football sized nugget. That is a "two box" unit. It will detect down really deep, but the target has to be rather large to produce a signal. You won't get a signal from a small nugget with it. The EagleEye is intended to be used to find large items such as money caches, cannonballs, etc.

Dwight is totally correct. The two box search coil setup is only for larger targets. You need to check out the depths with all coils on the surface to get an idea how small a target it will detect before you waste time walking the fields for hours. The larger the target the deeper a detector will find it.
