Silly Question GTI 1500

I have a GTI 1500, I've been unable to hunt for a LONG time. BUT--have plans to hit the beach in a couple weeks for the 1st time.

My "silly" question is....can I go in the water with this unit?

And do any of you guys have some 1st time recommendations?

The coil will be fine to go underwater. Just don't let control box get wet.
