So, I don't remember the exact day that I got my 250, but the day I got it, I immediately started to watch videos as much as possible, I then discovered this forum.. to this date, my finds and skills have (very minutely) gotten better... I got my 250 and started to dig every signal to learn what it was saying to me...after breaking about 50 plugs and waving them in front if my coil, I decided I needed a pinpointer...so I modified my p.o.s. studfinder to be a pp. Works good. I used it everyday until my aunt gave me a propointer...her x husband was a md'er for about a week...got it...never used it n never returned it bc he lost his receipt...WIN...epic win...I loved it immediately...but, I wanted to have it w me in the river....so I got plasti-coat in a spray and went to town after I covered the button, speaker, and led and put plumbers tape on the battery bottom and tightened her up.. ...now, as I've started to go to better places. And having even better places lined up I've yet to go until I have a hunting partner and honed my skillset further, I wanted a machine that would serve me well....don't get me wrong, my 250 was great...I still use it every once in awhile and goes in the car w me and my now week old at pro... What a difference...I picked up 2$ in clad and a couple war nickels and silver dime, just in my backyard where I'd hit before... I have a few pictures of my finds initially, then w my pinpointer....then w my propointer...and then finally w my current setup... I have a LOT of dirty clad and a few unknowns on the coin side...I have an electric motor that I want to use in building a tumbler...does anyone reading this...(if anyone)...have a link or know a good way I could go about this? ..I have an idea in my head but, I'm a rookie at md'ing and even more so in proper numismatic cleaning,....also, good way to clean iron and aluminum?.... Silver and gold... Would a tumbler b my fix all if I made it right w proper gearing and ability to change speed, oscillation etc..? ...Idk, ill get to searching....anyways, here's some pics...

Thanks guys, YouTube has some redneckish ones I like, but is rotation better than vibration or is oscillating the best? ...and anyone know what that HUGE white nail us used for?

I would go with rotation myself, I have seen videos on vibration and was not impressed. I have a tumbler and very happy with it

Thanks for the reply...I have everything needed for rotation except the belt I need...but, Idk, I don't want to spend any $ on this project, so I will think of another way to implement one of my two electric motors....its between an old drier motor and an old drill motor....decisions decisions... Is it better to have q slow rotation or fast, or is that dependant upon type of coin and how many, as well as the medium used?

I don't think you would want it to turn too fast? I use plain old BB's in my tumbler. They work well with just a little water,and a drop of Dawn Dish Washing Soap.

Yeah, um currently working out a pulley reduction system to get a slow and steady pase to clean my derrrty stuff, ill try bbs, got plenty of those for my slingshot I take w me to keep ravenous squirrels and meddling children at bay... Kidding of course.

it could be a gutter nail. They are usually colored to match the gutter with a metal sleeve on the nail inside the gutter to keep it from crushing.

First, welcome to the obsession! I'm glad you are having fun. When it comes to cleaning coins I've used a ammo case vibrator and a tumbler. The vibrator will do the job but takes forever. The tumbler is much faster. I use aquarium gravel with water and a drop or two of dishwashing detergent. Two things to remember, never clean pennies with other coins and never put silver or any other valuable coin in the tumbler. Pennies seem to discolor other coins. Tumbling a valuable silver or gold coin will detract from its value because the tumbling will cause scratches.
