Build a floating sifter. Supplies consist of 2 water noodles (one small, one larger), a Garrett classifier, some snap ties, some water proof tape, rope, knife and about an hours time.
This sifter has no metal in it, so if your swimming area consists of small stones and rocks, just dump the load in the sifter, and run the coil over it to see if that 18K gold ring is in there. For soft sand, just dump the sand in the sifter, fill in your hole with your foot and just move on, The sifter works by itself.

Here's it's maiden 5 minute voyage....and no I didn't get that ring from the water.
