I've had mine sense they first came out I use it hard and never had a problem even the original grip maybe they used a different grip back then but I've stood on it hacked with it and it keeps on going and if I did have to put a grip on it that would be a cheap fix!

The Garrett Digger has worked well for me without an issue to date. If I'm digging in ground hard enough that I think I might actually bend it then I switch to the Lesche Samson shovel. It very sharp and cuts a nice clean plug.

Any digging tool with a tubular handle and rubber/plastic grip will cut thru along the top--Pull the grip off, turn or whittle a plug to fit in the tube--round off the top and replace the grip--it will last for years/// Perry

The mill and lathe in the machining area of my lab will come in handy for that. Hell I may even use the edm and cut my own shovel design.

Most of the diggers have this issue....best hand digger you can buy is the Raptor by Predator Tools. Everything they make is top notch and made to last!

Predator makes the best tools hands down. I had the pleasure of meeting George Lesche a couple years ago and had a pretty long talk about their tools and processes involved in making them. Having been in metalworking for 30 years I have a great appreciation for such quality made tools.

When all else fails you, grab the Ironclad Viking Digger!
Check it out.

Of all the digging tools I've seen, this tool looks like a serious,
long-lasting unit.
Nope, I don't get commission for promoting it, either...! :laughing7:

Our snow melted so I went out today and on the second hole bent my Garrett digger. It bent right back but now I know it's weakend. I was used to my stainless steel gator digger I guess. Is the whites any stronger?? I like the Lesche but it's not cupped much for moving dirt.

I went out again today with my damaged handle grip. It slides off now and I have to hold onto it when pulling out of the dirt. It appears they put a weak cap on the top of the handle tube which pops up and cuts you. Not good.

The whole Garrett digger is cheap. I got one with an ace350 along with the cheap camo finds pouch. The handle started slipping off almost immediately. I put 2 part epoxy in it and stuck it back on. I think I gave it away when I slid the ace.

They said they would send me another foam grip identical to the last one. I said thanks so much.

The Garrett digger is terrible. The only one I've used that is worse was the Minelab one.

People are so picky about shovels. I like the garrett aside of the turdy handle grip which is fixable.

I have trouble justifying spending more when they should be made decent enough to do this job in the first place.

I actually use my little Treasure Wise T-12 the most. I like it over the Lesche for removing more dirt per scoop. I also use a Predator Raptor 31C but it looks more like a shovel in public areas.

With all do respect Mr Edmonton if the Garrett was so good why do so many people have trouble with them. I would also suspect Garrett has you test their products for feed back.
