I'm doing some genealogy and I could use some help with this headstone. This is not a government issued stone. I'm having trouble seeing and understanding what is carved here. It's the military information I'm stuck on. It's from a French / American ancestry headstone. The headstone is dated 1902. That date would put it at the end of Philippine—American War. What I think I see is ( Co.I 2ME. Inf. E.U.A.). Can anyone make out the military information? What is the meaning of the last three letters?
Thanks...

The whole thing is in French. It says:

DECEDE LE 8 SEPT 1902 (Décédé le 8 Septembre 1902)
AGE DE 22 ANS 3 MOIS (Age de 22 ans 3 mois)
Co.1, 2ME INF. EUA (Compagnie 1, Deuxième Infanterie. les Etats-Unis d'Amérique)

In English that would be “Died 8 September 1902, aged 22 years and 3 months; 1st Company, 2nd Infantry, United States of America”.
