If I was to own a gold bar, there is no way that I would leave it in a Mint for 'safekeeping' Get it out of there and put it in your own safe. There is no guarantee that when the time comes and you want your gold bar and you produce your 'slip of paper' that says you have it in storage, that they will have it there for you. This has happened.
In fact offers to replace gold with silver have been made as there just was no gold there. Most people are now aware of the Fort Knox scam and the Chinese 'gold bars' so it would be a very brave person to leave his gold with anyone else at all. Well done to the Chinese for testing the bars and finding they were duds. Too many crooked cabals in this world.
