Luckily I don't have any allergies but it does make sense. My biggest reason for wearing them is broken glass. I don't how many holes I've dug that have had shards of a broken window or bottle in them. I always wear leather gloves when digging targets.

I wear em when I cannot see leaves on plants. Late fall, winter, early spring. You can get poison ivy from the plants roots too and you never know what your digging without some foliage around.

I usually don't wear gloves.... unless working a ball field or park. That slaw can tear up the hands. Can you spell TETANUS? TTC

Not to mention hypodermic needles. And of course some could argue that a needle can go through a glove but if it kept it from doing so even to a fraction of a milimeter from reaching your skin it would be worth it. I've read that people can get HIV-Aids from infected needles.

Don't generally need them in my area. However, I don't think they're a bad idea. If in doubt, wear'em.

The dirt where I live will eat your skin like its a disease or something! I never md w/out gloves!! I just use a good pair of garden gloves and keep a pair in my car at all times.
