what is your best return........ by eye or detector
love to hear stories of things lost and found.
mine was 20 years back in Tahoe. walking my dog before hitting the casinos I found a wallet if I recall right, had about 300 bucks, with ID in it too, I checked with the Motel and found out it was one of the maids and she was in tears earlier looking for it as it was her whole pay check I met up with her as she was called from from her duties and returned it to her, the crying and big hug was priceless and a vision Ill remember the rest of my life
what stories do you have of any thing lost and returned ...............

Re: what is your best return........ by eye or detector
When I was 17, I worked as an usher at a second run theater. Now, I'd find the occaisonal coin spill and other lost items on a regular basis. One day, another usher and myself cleaned up after a showing. I was sweeping up in one of the rows when from a couple seats away, I see a black rectangle. I get closer and pick up what turns out to be a black leather wallet. The wallet has some weight to it. I open it up and it has I.D. and is full of CASH. I start counting the money and by the time I'm finished my co-worker is next to me wondering what I was doing. He saw the wallet and all that green. Grand total: 636 bucks (I'll never forget that amount). He says, "I'll split it with you." I kind of laughed at him at first. ONE, I wasn't sure of what I was going to do. TWO, I found it and this co-worker and I weren't what you would call buddies. So, I put the wallet in my pocket and finished cleaning the theater. After I finished, I turned the wallet in to the manager's office.
The next day, I'm working and my manager comes up to me and hands me an envelope. I open it up and to my surprise I discover there's 3 twenty dollar bills in it. My manager told me the man who's wallet I found was unemployed and it was all the money he had. I had thought about what I could've done with 636 dollars and what kind of summer I could've had. After hearing about the owner of the wallet, I knew I had made the right decision.
Funny thing about the co-worker who was there when I found the wallet. When he learned of the reward he asked where his cut was.
LMAO

Neither. Just plain, dumb luck.
I bought an old seam marker at Goodwill to sell on ebay. When I opened the box to photograph the contents I found a bank envelope with $200, all made in the 80's. Unfortunately the bank had been bought out and the envelope did not have a receipt. I would have loved to have returned this money to his rightful owner.
You will dig trash. Get over it.
