Any value to this nickel?

I found a 1946-D Nickel in a bankroll. It's an old one for sure. But how many of those were minted that year? Any value?

No silver in buffalo nickels, same composition as the regular Jeffersons. Only the Jefferson "war nickels" from mid 1942-1945 with the large mintmark over Monticello contained silver.

I never heard of a real silver Buffalo

Yes there is a "silver" buffalo. It is a bullion coin 999.99% 1 ounce of silver, looks like a silver dollar in size......NGE

If you ever come across an old buffalo nickel with a Native on it from the 1930s, they're silver and hold a high over spot premium of rarity.

I don't believe that is correct. Reference?

My understanding is All buffalo nickels were struck in 75% copper, and 25% nickel ...They have all been like this except for the infamous " War Nickel" And then Later they were made of silver, copper, and manganese because nickel was an important compound used during the War.

That is my understanding as well. Still waiting on heat45 to prove his point.
