If you found a pile of rusted iron objects detecting,would you take the time to try and identify and clean them,or just dump the lot??

It depends what the rusty items are? For the most part I would take it to the scrap yard and get some money for my find.

Well, depends, does any of it resemble gun parts? Knife parts? Old time stuff?

If it's CW Iron.. of course, it can give you lot of clues...

It looked like a block of rust when I pulled it from about 10" down. It turned out to be a 200 year old ax head that was used to clear the land. Frank
