Waffle shoe print in a side walk dated 1888?

Does anyone have any thoughts on this? I assumed they didn't have that kind of sole then. Unless it was a homemade shoe maybe? Thanks

I found something pretty interesting on a 18th century stoneware bottle that I have.Its not a regular bottle,such as drink,but maybe molasses or something similar as theres a pour spout shaped into the lip by the potter who made it.He failed to smooth it out and left his,her, finger prints in it.
