As a Gold miner my main gripe is the lack of reality in the "Reality show" Gold Rush. Covering several different groups working claims is one thing but they have yet to show what goes into getting those claims in real life! Leasing a claim is one thing and not very many miners actually lease their ground. They locate and file on their own. Dealing with the government to file your claim, getting plans of operation approved, surprise inspections by various government agencies like EPA, BLM etc. are all part of the REAL mining experience. It may not make for "Good Television" but making people think that gold mining is a cakewalk is just wrong. I'm sure that there have been more than a few people out there that have tried to follow how they show it on T.V. and have lost a bundle.
I really do wish that there was some way we could sue these networks for false advertising by calling it "Reality T.V."!!!!! It's anything BUT real!
